Sydney-based artist Hannah Carrick is using her latest capsule to recognise the unwavering power of femininity. The one-of-a-kind artworks were created in alignment with International Women's Day and 20% of all sales will be donated to Dress for Success.
"This charity resonates with me because after my parents separated my father didn't pay any child support. My mum had my brother and me in her late teens and had been a stay-at-home mother up until this point. She was my age when she was a single mother raising two teenagers with no work experience or the resources to study, so she worked as a cleaner to support us. I would like to be able to contribute in a small way to helping women get back on their feet and find a sense of independence."
Carrick gained her own sense of independence early in life, leaving home at the age of sixteen. A challenging path into womanhood is reflected in her past works, from the simple, fluid lines on canvas representing the female form, to bold, powerful women embracing their sexuality, beauty and confidence.
